why you should sign up for casino rewards programs - even if you aren’t going to gamble!
Every casino has a Casino Player Card program, often called a Rewards Program or a Players Club. But even if you aren’t planning on doing any gambling, you’ll still want to sign up for these cards! Check out these five reasons why you should sign up during your next Vegas family vacation.
Reason #1 - Discounts
Some player cards offer discounts regardless of your level of play. Just having the card will earn you discounts at certain locations! An instant discount is definitely worth signing up!
If you plan to eat at the buffet at South Point, be sure to sign up for a player card first for a discount. One card is good for two adults, and kids eat for 50% off.
Reason #2 - Earn Rewards
For most casinos, you'll earn rewards for purchases in addition to gaming activities. It’s important to have a player’s club card for the hotel where you are staying, and be sure to charge everything back to your room to get more points. These points can be “cashed” in for complimentary food, show tickets, or souvenirs!
Many casinos are part of larger networks. For example, in Vegas, one rewards card, the MGM Rewards card, is good at 10 properties: Bellagio, Vdara Hotel, Cosmopolitan, Aria, Park, NYNY, Excalibur, Luxor, The W Hotel, and Mandalay Bay.
Reason #3 - FREE STUFF
When you sign up for one of these cards, you may get an immediate benefit – free stuff! This varies casino to casino, but common freebies include decks of cards, t-shirts, free drinks, and FreePlay.
As a thank you, most casinos offer a card upgrade for military and veterans. Bring proof of service with you when you sign up. The upgrade is worth it to get extra perks!
Reason #4 - Promotions
In order to be eligible for any promotions in the casino, you must have a players club card. So if you do plan on doing any gambling, always have your card in the machine! For example, some casinos offer hot seats, so as long as your players club card is active in a machine, you’re automatically entered into the drawing.
If you’re going to play poker, it’s just as important to have a players club card. You’ll earn comps per hour of play, and at Caesars properties, you also earn points toward your tier status.
Reason #5 - Future Offers
Casinos use information from players club cards to send future offers. These offers may be for Las Vegas, or maybe for a casino closer to where you live within their network!
Don’t worry about whether you gamble “enough”. Although some offers are based on higher gaming, others are sent to entice you to come back and hopefully gamble or spend more at their property in the future.
If you do end up earning rewards, be sure to use them before you leave Las Vegas! Many rewards expire after 6- 12 months. Be sure to sign up for a card wherever you spend money - you’ll be surprised at how easily the rewards add up.
