5 Transportation Options for Traveling around Downtown Las Vegas

Downtown Las Vegas is a fun place to explore that runs from the North Premium Outlets to the Arts District. This area also includes the famous Fremont Street. Although walking Downtown Las Vegas is possible, it may not be the best option for you and your family. Take a look at these five convenient and economical choices to get around Downtown Las Vegas on your next Vegas family vacation.


1. Downtown Loop

Not to be confused with the Vegas Loop on the Strip, the Downtown Loop is a free shuttle that operates from the Strat Hotel throughout Downtown Las Vegas and Fremont Street, and over to Symphony Park and the North Premium Outlets. There are twelve different stops. You can ride the shuttle for the entire loop or hop on and off. You do not need a reservation or ticket and all ages can ride the shuttle. It runs 7 days a week with extended hours on the weekend.

Use the shuttle to get around Downtown Las Vegas instead of moving your car. If you are staying at a Downtown Hotel, the shuttle is a super convenient way visit a local store to pick up necessities like water and snacks.


2. The Deuce

Price Range: $ | Website

The Deuce is a great option, especially if you are traveling to the Strip. It runs along Las Vegas Boulevard from Fremont Street to the South Strip Transit Terminal. There are 28 stops along the route, and downtown the bus stops at the Fremont Experience and the Mob Museum before it heads to the Arts District. You can purchase passes via the RTC app.

Consider purchasing a 24-hour pass to save money and time. You can hop on and off as much as you like during your pass duration.


3. Bike Share

The Regional Transportation Commission facilitates the downtown Electric Bike Share program. There are 100 bikes at stations throughout downtown and you can borrow a bike for less than $10. Simply pick one up at any bike station and return it to any of the 30 bike stations.

4. Taxi

Price Range: $-$$+

You cannot hail a cab directly on Fremont Street as cabs in Las Vegas are required to pick up passengers from designated taxi stands. You can find these at most casinos and hotels, where cabs will be readily available at these locations.

Keep in mind, state law limits most cabs to no more than 5 occupants, including kids. However, the attendant at the taxi stand can contact the cab company and request a larger vehicle for you if you need one. Although taxis are exempt from car seat requirements, we still highly recommend buckling your child in using your own car seat whenever possible.

The metered rate you see is for cash only. It doesn’t include credit card fees or a tip, so don’t be surprised when you see the fees added in at the end of your trip.


5. Rideshare

Rideshares are a great option if you are on a schedule. They’re also great if you’ll be bringing back a lot of bags or packages. However, rates vary greatly based on a number of variables, including availability of drivers, time of day, and special events.
