5 Convenient Ways to Get Around the Las Vegas Strip

The Las Vegas Strip is over 4 miles long and most properties are set back from the Strip. So if you’re planning on spending time on the Strip during your next Vegas family vacation, check out these convenient and economical ways to move about the Strip.

1. The deuce

The Deuce is a 24/7 public bus that runs specifically along Las Vegas Boulevard from Fremont Street to the South Strip Transit Terminal. There are 28 stops along the route. You can purchase a 24-hour pass for $8, and children under 6 ride free.

Download the RTC’s app. You can see the routes and schedules, and purchase passes.

2. monorail

Price Range: $ | Website

The Monorail runs along the west side of the Strip from the MGM Grand to the Sahara. It connects several hotels and the Convention Center. Trains arrive every 4-8 minutes, providing a fast, transportation option.

Take advantage of the “show your ticket and save offers” with your monorail ticket. You can save up to 50% on many shows, receive BOGO drink offers, and other food discounts.

3. vegas loop

Price Range: $ | Website

The Vegas Loop is an underground tunnel that transports individuals using Tesla electric cars. The loop started as an efficient way to move around the Las Vegas Convention Center area, but now it’s begun a major expansion by adding loops to adjacent hotels like Resorts World and Wynn/Encore. There are plans in the future for the Loop to go all the way to the airport and downtown Las Vegas, but it’s not quite there just yet.

Operating hours vary; be sure to check out their website for current hours and available stations.

4. Rideshare

Price Range: $-$$+

This is a good option if you need to travel a little further out from the Strip or if you have to be somewhere at a specific time. Keep in mind that rates are subject to lots of variables, including time of day, availability of drivers, and special events happening in town.

Uber and Lyft have options for larger vehicles, so this can be helpful if you have a larger group. Each hotel has designated rideshare pickup areas. For larger properties, there may be more than one designated pickup location. Be sure to are at the correct location when you request your ride.

Unlike buses and taxis, Rideshares, like Uber and Lyft, are not exempt from car seat requirements. This means you will be required to have and install your own car seat for all riders under six.

5. Taxicab

Price Range: $-$$+

There are designated taxi lines at all hotels and casinos, and cabs are usually immediately available 24/7. Don’t try to hail a cab on the street, though! It is illegal for cabs to pick you up directly on Las Vegas Boulevard.

Most cabs are limited to five people, including children. This is a state law, so expect to be turned away if you have more than 5 individuals in your group. However, at most hotels, the bellman who hails cabs can contact the cab company and request a larger vehicle. This may take additional time, so plan accordingly.

Although taxis are exempt from car seat requirements, we still highly recommend buckling your child in using your own car seat.

The metered rate you see is for cash only. It doesn’t include credit card fees or tip, so don’t be surprised if some moderate additional fees are added onto your total.

Remember, the Strip is a mirage – places look closer than they are! Before walking, confirm how far away your destination really is. It’s also hot and dry, so you may find yourself more tired from walking a mile in Las Vegas than you would be back home. If you have a ways to go, your best bet is to opt for one of these convenient walking alternatives to make your way around the Strip on your next Vegas family vacation!
